The One Body of Christ/The Old Life and the New Life

Referencing:  Ephesians 2:14 – For he himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility.

Jesus broke down the “wall of hostility” that separated us (sinners) from Him (sinless, spotless).  There was a real, physical wall around the Temple in Jerusalem separating Jews from Gentiles, where Gentiles were not allowed to go beyond.  Jesus broke down physical walls and walls of the heart/mind.

There are no more sects or cliques, just Jesus followers.  Yes, we look different, we have different locations, however, the community of Jesus believers/followers should be in unity with this new life (old, sinful life dies with Christ and new life rises), Romans 6:3-14 https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Romans+6:3-14&version=ESV.

We shall have renewed minds, Romans 12:2: our desires, actions and wants change and we shall bear fruit (of the Spirit):  Galatians 5:22-23.  We take on the “likeness of Christ”, Ephesians 4:24 (truly righteous AND holy) and 32 (kind, tenderhearted, forgiving).  In Ephesians 4:32 the “just as” is where we have this New Life:  just as God THROUGH Christ has forgiven you.  That is powerful!!  Christ forgave AND will forgive me!

If I turn (repent) from my old, sinful life and embrace the new life, (putting off, throwing off my old sinful nature and my former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception Ephesians 4:22), I will recognize my reliance on God’s grace and power.  If I am not “dependent” on my actions, what then would I rely on…. God’s grace and power!
